The National Veterans Memorial and Museumhonors and preserves the personal experiences of those who have served the United States in all branches of service during both conflict and peacetime.
Rare Volume designed The Graphics Standards for Media to ensure interactive and linear media are integrated with the overall graphic and environmental design of all exhibits.
A rich visual toolkit supported a range of media typologies, from opening titles and lower thirds to interactive maps, information graphics, and UI elements.
The design system consists of four key elements—typography, color palette, imagery, and texture—translated from physical and graphic design to complement both linear and interactive digital content.
Rare Volume’s interactive, visual, and motion design informed several interactive media exhibits:
Military Timeline—A multi-station interactive timeline depicting the history of the United States military.
Where We Were—An interactive globe detailing US military presence around the world throughout its history.
Celebration of Service—A projected tabletop visualization presenting current data on US veterans around the world.
Letters Home—A narrative touchscreen exhibit showcasing letters and messages exchanged between those serving and their loved ones and communities back home.
